Hair is an important part of your body. It is said to be one’s crown so one has to guard his or her own. Hair products are flooding the market and counterfeits are been produced alongside them. You may wonder what measures are been taken to reduce fake products from entering the market and how you can distinguish them. You may or may not know that before a product is let into the market there are some requirements the shampoo label should have reached. Not very many people take this thought into consideration.

The Label Must Be Government Approved

The product must comply with the government regulations. All labels and other graphic, written or printed objects on or accompanying the product are considered as labels. All indicated on the label should be found within or outside the product. If any of the latter is proven false or is not labeled properly, the shampoo label may be misbranded and may have to go through regulatory action. The shampoo label must display the name of the product, the nature and purpose of the product, accurate statement of the net quantity in terms of weight, numeric count, measure or a combination. It must be placed at the bottom region parallel to the lower base of the product. Location and name of the firm assisting in marketing the shampoo must be indicated on the information panel. Information such as the street address, town, state, zip code etc. must be conveyed.

Ingredients Must Be Declared

The government regulators are looking out for you in terms of product safety. The shampoo label should include an ingredient declaration. The font and font size used should be conspicuous. Ingredients must be arranged in descending order of predominance. Cosmetics that are also drugs must have the ‘active’ ingredients (drug ingredients) indicated. Then the other ingredients should also be stated

Warnings Should Be Indicated

Some shampoos have hazardous effects if handled incorrectly. They should be indicated in a visible manner. The shampoo manufacturers are usually urged to test their products to ensure the product is full proof off hazards. If the product is suspected to be dangerous, they can be misbranded or be forced to indicate that the products safety is not determined. Next time before you print your bath and body labels, ensure you provide accurate information.

The Packaging Should Be Tamper Resistant

These shampoo products should be packaged in tamper resistant packages. It is declared tamper resistant when an indicator or barrier is present. These may include tape seal, tube or even pouch. If broken, breached or missing, your labels will be declared tampered with. Avoid this mistake.

Inspection Of Areas Of Manufacture

The local authorities must inspect all places the manufacturing is taking place. This ensures that all products stated in the ingredients list are safe for human use. Harmful substances and illegal, foreign products found will be used as evidence to execute the manufacture. Future orders of these substances are blocked. Communication between the manufacturer and the distributor is barred using a restraining order.

That is all in terms of shampoo labeling requirements.
