In the past, wine labels were used to identify the origin of the wine. Now times have changed. Wine labels have been taken to another level. Label designers are giving it their all. They are being very innovative and inspired. The effect is beautiful and luring. They are applying printing techniques and even paper stocks. When you get your eye on one of these bottles you will be on your way to get it. These techniques are vibrant and sell the product by themselves. When creating a wine label apply these techniques appropriately to create a unique and unforgettable label.

Bottle Shapes

Everyone is used to the classic, conventional wine bottle look. Some wines now come in different shapes and sizes. The shape of the bottle is used to invoke a mood and has been used as a powerful asset in terms of branding. Even though most brands prefer the Burgundy bottle, the newly shaped bottles stand out from the rest. They also come in different colors that enhance the label’s concept. Another point to be considered is the thickness of the bottle. The thicker the bottle, the cost of transportation and energy used increases. To save on cost, brands have started to use lighter bottles and also as a positive environmental measure.

Multilayered Labels

Some brands prefer to apply this branding method for its aesthetic effect. Unfortunately there is a limit to the thickness of the paper stock. If not taken to consideration, they may start to pull away or be affected by moisture. A solution was offered by placing the layers on each other successively. No doubt this is going to increase the cost. In the end it is worth it because of its hauntingly beautiful effect.

Screen Printed Wine Bottles

To produce a screen printed wine bottle, you need to lay down the illustration on the bottle as it pleases you. The design is then traced to turn the illustrations into vector graphics. To save on cost, it is advisable to use one color. Do not worry, the effect is priceless; a traditional look is brought out. Unlike paper labels, this method of label printing provides a 360 degree canvas for your artistic ideas. They also do not fade or tear unlike the latter label. You can have six conventional colors and about seven metallic colors (the metallic colors are more expensive).

Heat Transfer Labels

This is a similar technique compared to screen-printing. It allows ink to be printed onto the bottle. Even though it is costly it allows you to use an infinite number of color combinations based on your liking. The results are extremely flawlessly elegant. They are durable thus they are reusable. This is cost effective and an improvement on sustainability.

Bottle Wraps

Bottle wraps allow an all-round artwork aspect and provide a vintage, natural, authentic look. That is not all, even after admiring the wrap you may enjoy a screen printed bottle or the traditional labels. The effect is greatly compelling. It can be recycled and used to print using natural inks, reused or allow nature to take its course since it is biodegradable.

These and more cool innovative techniques are being used in labelling wine. Not only are they attractive, they help in conserving our Earth.
